How Does Marijuana Affect Different Parts of Your Brain?

Every component of the human body is complex, from the tiniest cell to the largest organ (which, by the way, is your skin).  However, no organ is more complicated than the brain.  This three-pound organ houses billions of neurons that guide thought, perception, emotion, and action, making each and every one of us who we are today.  In this article, I’ll explore a few of the many ways the human brain is affected by using marijuana (Cannabis).  If you have any questions about registering for a Massachusetts medical marijuana card, I encourage you to contact Inhale MD for a private consultation.

CBG Oil Vs CBD Oil

If your familiar with CBD, the chances are you’ve also heard of CBG (Cannabigerol). CBG or Cannabigerol to use it’s full title is one of more than 120 identified cannabinoid compounds found within the cannabis plant. However, unlike CBD, CBG is found in much smaller quantities than most other cannabinoids within the hemp plant. CBG tends to have less than a 1% presence in most cannabis strains. However, like CBD, CBG is also not pyschoactive.

Cannabis Concentrates Guide: THC Oils, Hash, Wax, Shatter & Dabs

Types of Cannabis Concentrates

Cannabis concentrates are as diverse as they are potent. There are so many different types of concentrates, sometimes it hard to keep them all straight.

From kief to oils, hashish to shatter, it can be overwhelming to consider trying them, or how to smoke concentrates when you aren’t even sure which is which.

So, what are concentrates?

How are cannabis concentrates made?

How are concentrates, oils and extracts different?

Types of Concentrates

What is a concentrate?

cannabis concentrates oils

Solvent-based and solventless marijuana concentrates are products that have been created from the cannabis plant and are much more potent than just flower alone.

What is a solvent based extract or solventless cannabis concentrate?

Well, some concentrates call for a solvent, such as CO2, butane or alcohol, in order to extract the THC and other valuable cannabinoids and terpenes.

If a concentrate utilizes a solvent to be created it is referred to as an extract. Other concentrates require no solvent and these are referred to solventless concentrates.

All extracts are concentrates but not all concentrates are extracts. While different types of cannabis concentrates might seem to run together, they are each quite distinctive.

There are numerous types of concentrates and extracts and new ones being developed all the time.

Kief, hash, rosin, tinctures, oils, shatter, pull and snap, wax, budder or badder, crumble, honeycomb, distillate and crystalline are the concentrates we will focus on.

How Psychedelic Surf Smugglers Invented Dabs (With Help From the CIA?)

Who invented the dab?

All too often in the world of cannabis such monumental achievements end up lost to history, particularly those that date back to the bad old days of total prohibition. But in this case, we actually have a primary document to work off. Because on October 3, 1973, the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary held a rather unique hearing entitled Hashish Smuggling and Passport Control: The Brotherhood of Eternal Love.

We tend to think of dabs (a highly concentrated cannabis extract) as a fairly recent phenomenon, but as the hearing’s official transcript makes clear, the production and consumption of this product actually dates back at least to the early 1970s.

This particular airing of government grievances came at the end of a massive law enforcement campaign against The Brotherhood—a legendary network of cannabis smugglers and LSD evangelists that flooded the country with acid and hashish back in the late 60s and early 70s, before a wave of arrests and indictments took them down.

In the following exchange, J. G. Sourwine—chief counsel for the Senate Subcommittee on the Judiciary—is asking a couple of DEA agents to tell him the origin story of a highly concentrated cannabis extraction that The Brotherhood of Eternal Love dubbed “honey oil” and the cops called “hashish oil.”

Medical Marijuana Advancements in Treating ALS

als-and-medical-cannabis

“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change” (Stephen Hawking).

Stephen Hawking was known as one of the top physicists, professor, and author in modern physics. At age 21, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain. The manner in which ALS develops is by the deterioration and death of neurons, in particular motor neurons that are vital for communication between the brain and voluntary movement. As ALS progresses, it causes lack of nourishment to these neurons and eventually the neurons degenerate to the point where muscles are weakened and begin to waste ways (atrophy).
