Getting Out The Marijuana Vote in Texas

Texas voters will head to the polls this November, and some will be armed with information about the candidates’ stances on various marijuana policies.

Through the collective efforts of numerous people around the state, Texas NORML has produced the Texas Marijuana Policy Voter Guide. The non-profit organization, which is dedicated to changing cannabis laws, routinely publishes this guide during the primaries and general elections. The first such guide was created in 2012.

Texas NORML: Veterans Conference

Join Texas Veterans for our statewide Veterans Conference at our Capitol in Austin, noon to 5pm in the Capitol Legislative Conference Center, Room E2.002. We will hear veterans, patients and caregivers discuss how our healing plant helps their PTSD, chronic pain and other serious conditions.

Please pre-register. This will allows us to ensure we adequate resources for all attendees. Please note that there is an option to purchase a Texas Veteran shirt with your free registration. These shirts will only be available for advance purchase, as we cannot sell them at the Capitol.

*Medical marijuana bill and strategy for the 2019 legislative session

*Federal marijuana legislation that affects veterans

Canada to Pardon Pot Possession as it Legalizes Marijuana

The Canadian government is ready to pardon those with a pot possession record of 30 grams or less after Canada becomes the second and largest country with a legal national marijuana marketplace Wednesday.

A senior government official said those with a record will be allowed to apply for a pardon. The official was not authorized to speak publicly ahead of Wednesday’s announcement and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Less than a week ahead of the legalization of adult recreational marijuana sales in Canada, Facebook Inc. will end a months-long block on cannabis and related search results for pages on its platform, the company told Marketwatch ahead of the change Thursday.

FDA Calls for Public Comment on Cannabis Rescheduling

FDA officials have put out a call for public comment about the potential rescheduling of cannabis and several other substances.

The feds want specifically to hear about the substances’ “abuse potential, actual abuse, medical usefulness, trafficking, and impact of scheduling changes on availability for medical use.”
